Insomnia - how to get a restful night's sleep

Along with healthy digestion, sleep is foundational to good health. There are two different insomnia patterns - one in which a person has difficulty falling asleep, and another pattern where the person cannot maintain sleep during the night (frequent nighttime waking).....and yes, some people report having both patterns. In Chinese medicine each type of insomnia has its root in a different organ system, so for healing we strengthen that particular system. As you can imagine, there are different herbs for the different root causes. Another common issue is vivid dreams and nightmares. If a person has frequent "dream-disturbed sleep", as it is called in Chinese medicine then they will not wake up feeling refreshed. I will be giving solutions to balancing both systems and quelling the mind so a restful night's sleep can be the norm.
